About Jo Lavelle

Jewellery designer and maker

Monday 14th may

Monday again!
I thought I would sit here and let you know what I am up to this week while I drink my brew!
I am sending a new batch of work out to The Bluecoat Gallery in Liverpool this week and will include new works and some one off pieces.I will post some pictures of some of the pieces shortly. I will also be sending some new jewellery to Samson and Coles in Whitstable.

I received news that I got a place at Hereford Contemporary Craft fair in November which is very exciting.

In the workshop I am working on some commissions and don’t forget to pop by and see Past Present Future makers ring exhibition in my studio and Eve Redmond’s studio Divinity upstairs in The Manchester Craft and Design Centre.
Watch out for some pictures!

Platform Gallery and Wren Gallery

I have sent jewellery to two new stockists in the last week.

Platform Gallery is housed in a former train station in Clitheroe and has been a stockist of mine for a long time! However they closed after christmas for a refurbishment and opened on Saturday for which I sent a brand new lovely stock.

Platform Gallery has an Open Craft Exhibition on at the moment. You can go along and vote for for your favourite piece through the People’s Choice Award.

Wren Gallery is based in The Warrington Museum and there is a dedicated space in one of its newly refurbished galleries to exhibiting and selling British craft.

If you happen to be in any of these areas do search out Platform Gallery or Wren Gallery.

Past Present Future Makers ring exhibition

To coincide with The Manchester Craft and Design Centre’s 30th birthday celebrations this Saturday Eve Redmond and I will be launching a specially commissioned ring exhibition called Past Present Future Makers.

Invited exhibitors were asked to make a ring inspired by The Manchester Craft and Design Centre in celebration of it’s 30th anniversary. The exhibition will run alongside the main exhibition ‘Collecting History’ running from 28th April – 30th June.

The exhibition will be in two parts at Jo Lavelle’s studio and in ‘Divinity’ Eve Redmond’s studio which is upstairs.

Please come and join us 2-5 pm in celebration this Saturday. There will be music from Thomas Thorp and English Electric, 1982-tastic food and family friendly craft activities.

I love it when old pieces come back for a polish or a tweek. This bracelet was made about 9 years ago and I probably only made two or three. I think maybe it is time to make another set of these bracelets. This one is home to a very loyal customer that has been coming into my shop for years with all her friends!
