Sale Arts Trail 11th – 13th July

After a very busy year in 2013 doing lots of shows travelling round the country I decided in 2014 to stay at home more to spend more time in my jewellery studio and to open my studio to the public for special events. Whilst in the midst of my busy year travelling to shows I was usually with ceramicist Sarah Malone as she exhibited at a lot of the same shows!!! On many of our drives home weary after a long weekend we would repeatedly say to each other we should organise our own trail or event at home to encourage local people to visit artist studios and to simply let local people know we exist!  We drafted in another local artist Sophie Nixon Clarke and the Sale Art Trail was born!  The first Sale Arts Trail will take place this weekend with 38 artists spread across open studios, cafés and the Waterside Arts Centre in Sale.

The trail kicks off on Friday evening with a preview at Waterside Arts Centre in Sale 6-9pm and everyone is welcome! We are delighted to have Fellicinis Buffets at the preview. The Waterside are hosting the Sale Arts Trail exhibition of all artists work from the trail. If you miss the trail the Sale Arts Trail Exhibition will be on until mid August.

On Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th the trail weekend will open from 10pm and will include the following venues with a selection of artists work. The above map details the trail and lists the venues A-L. The idea of the trail is to use the map to visit open studios, cafes and The Waterside Arts Centre on a creative tour round Sale meeting and viewing artists work. Most work is from local Trafford and Manchester artists/makers.

Minikin Emporium exhibiting John Slade Ceramics, Sarah Mitch Photography, Zoe Docherty Illustration, Tracey Birchwood Jewellery and Jo Lavelle Jewellery.

Serendiptea exhibiting Tone Von Krogh Ceramics, Louise Dewsnap Paper and Sally Fryer illustration.

Coasters  Omid Asadi Leaf Art, Eve Redmond Jewellery and Jacqueline Wilson Digital Prints.

Sale Waterside all exhibitors are represented in the Sale Arts Trail exhibition with special collections from Artist David Gledhill, Glass Artist Michelle Keeling, Print and Collage by Michele Pouncey, Visual Artist Anthony Clarkson, Sculptor Valerie Clarke, Recent Graduate Jeweller Melissa Lauder, Photographer Simon Buckley and a collection of Mixed Media work from Lucy Harvey.

The following venues will be open studios where you will get to see studios that are used by artists on a day to day basis for work thrown open for Sale Arts Trail. By visiting the open studio’s not only will you be able to view the artists work, some studio’s will have guest artist’s work placed in their studio or home.

So print off your map get your trainers on and gather your friends to walk the Sale Arts Trail this weekend where I promise you will see fantastic work from artists and you will even get to meet some of the artists. On a final note the perfect ending to the trail where I know I will be with a glass of wine with fellow artists is The Kings Ransom where Sallow Tree Concerts will be hosting a classical music jam from 2pm. A perfect end!!
